How learning and motivation keep Allegra Kettelkamp flying high

Allegra Kettelkamp has always been passionate about learning.

Before joining Freshworks in November 2017, her sales job at an e-learning company involved straddling business development and client management for leading investment and commercial banks. Allegra was looking to make a bigger impact in the world of software when she chanced upon an opening at Freshworks through LinkedIn. Once she spoke to her future colleagues during the interview process, she was sure that she “could play an active part in helping build the culture here in North America.”

At Freshworks, Allegra has been instrumental in “spreading the word about Freshworks technology,” and growing the company’s footprint in new regions. After joining the organization as a mid-market account executive, she moved up to leading the charge in closing new businesses for enterprise customers in New York and New Jersey as a strategic enterprise account executive. Allegra is fueled by the impact her work can have on others and loves that Freshworks fosters such a motivating environment.

Freshworks celebrates successes and provides recognition of accomplishments outside the day-to-day metrics our teams are measured by. Team members and leaders alike acknowledge the daily ways our team goes above and beyond by shout outs on Slack channels, Workplace posts, and awards.

In 2019, Allegra won the Sales Culture Champion award at the annual sales kick-off. In her own words, “It’s really important to me that I’m not only a salesperson here but a part of the broader Freshworks vision. I strive to actively help the company continue to be a place where people feel like they are part of a family.”

A highflier herself, Allegra aspires to hold a leadership position someday. For her, winning is a team sport. Bringing on new customers involves a lot of steps, and she relies on internal networking to not only ace her daily tasks but also to create a delightful experience for customers with powerful insights and product information. 

Speaking of intuitive tools, she points to Freshworks’ internal Freshservice instance.

Freshservice is the best tool I engage with daily as an end-user. It connects me to all areas of our organization. There are a lot of business units here doing a stellar job of providing services across Freshworks, and it’s amazing that the solutions our product teams build are a part of the foundational technology we use to achieve operational excellence. There’s so much daily that I need from different business units, I cannot imagine how much more difficult it would be to get my job done without Freshservice.

Allegra also volunteers as an active member of Freshworks Women 360 steering committee for North America, where she drives programs and events on inclusivity and empowerment at work. In her own words, “Freshworks is a wonderful place to find mentorship because everyone is so selfless and giving with their time.”
