For Jeremy, working with autonomy is key to organizational delight

Jeremy Hall has always been passionate about helping companies leverage technology to solve real problems.

When he joined Freshworks in November 2019, Jeremy expected a “front-row” seat at “a company that offered the best software solutions in the market.” What he didn’t expect was the opportunity to build and sustain “long-lasting and delightful relationships” with his customers. Speaking to customers and prospects across different industries, Jeremy relates that he felt a personal connection with them, which helped him understand their needs and goals – like “a true partner.”

Jeremy is part of the US Northeastern Enterprise Field Sales team at Freshworks now. In a region that’s “notoriously fruitful for the business,” he says that the company’s policy of hiring and retaining amazing, talented, and interesting folks has bolstered the team with “fresh eyes and fresher perspectives.” His team is adept at operating nimbly and predicting hurdles before they hit, allowing them time to prepare better. Speaking of the opportunity to learn something new every day from his team, he says: “We have a collective wealth of individual experiences and a work culture that welcomes and promotes sharing those experiences with one another.”

Software made easy

Jeremy stresses that he’s proud to be working at a company that’s transforming the status quo around buying and managing enterprise software. In his own words:

It was commonly accepted even a few years ago that enterprise software is expensive, impossible to set up and manage if you don’t have a background or specialized training in technology, and a necessary evil that front-line users aren’t supposed to enjoy using. I firmly believe that Freshworks is shifting these perceptions for many of our customers by providing affordable solutions that are easy to use, implement, and manage, and that are also democratized for technical and non-technical users alike that even front-line users can end up being delighted with.

Jeremy attributes the rapid growth of Freshworks to the dynamic ability to switch to remote working when needed. He says that this nimbleness on the part of a large organization with thirteen offices around the globe has “created a more efficient workplace experience, where employees are empowered to work with autonomy.”

Looking back on his journey, Jeremy says that “this has been the most rewarding work experience of my life.” He describes the work culture at Freshworks as “democratized, product-focused, and rewarding.” In a watercooler chat for ‘A Freshworker’s Life’ series, he opens up about his passions and motivations and applauds our collaborative culture that enables personal and professional growth. Jeremy Hall infographicNew beginnings

When he started at Freshworks, Jeremy helped open Freshworks’ Denver office and was one of the first members of the commercial sales team. Amidst the uncertainties that foreshadow every new beginning, he says that the pride he felt during this year’s sales kick-off (SKO) when Bobby Jaffari, president of the North America Field Ops, reviewed the commercial team’s performance cannot be stressed enough.

Always candid about his experiences, Jeremy also shares a funny story from the early days of the Denver office.

One feature of our Denver office was the beautiful hardwood floor which, unfortunately, tended to respond loudly to loud footwear. At that time, we had more than one office in the same building. And one of our neighbors notoriously chose footwear that created a very loud noise with every footstep. One day at work, one of our team members finally had it when this person was walking by loudly. He stood up from his seat and exclaimed, “CHOOSE BETTER SHOES!
Needless to say, uncontrollable laughter broke out.

Delight made ‘inclusive’

Jeremy shares that he’s proud to work for a company that prioritizes customer and user delight with easy and intuitive product experiences. He talks about his favorite project, which offered him “a lesson in empathy.”

In 2020, I worked with a client to help them implement an American Disabilities Act-compliant, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA certified ITSM solution that would cater to all employees, regardless of their differently-abled sight capabilities. This project was a lesson in empathy for me; I hadn’t considered the challenges that people with different levels of access to vision faced every day at work. It also made me proud to work for a company that prioritized delighting all kinds of customers and users with great user experiences, regardless of their ability to see.

Outside work, Jeremy is driven by a profound sense of responsibility to ensure that he and his wife have the ability to achieve their financial and professional goals. He says, “My family is what motivates me every day to work harder, with one eye on the task in front of me and another on the path ahead.”
