It is a really helpfull app, but it would even be better if chromebooks would be linked to the department depending on the ou or settings in Google, now they still need to be linked to a department and with a few thousand chromebooks thats a bit of work

Agreed with other reviews. Great that this functionality exists at all but it's basic and often unreliable implementation unfortunately. I would say it's a good v1.0, but then it's a 5 year old app at this point.

Fresh Service's Chrome OS device discovery app for the Inventory Management module is a disaster. It lacks customization options like selecting organizational units, has no re-sync option, and fails to track IP addresses. Compared to competitors, it is extremely limited and unusable. Another major issue I faced was the absence of a re-sync option. This meant that whenever there was an update or change in the inventory, I had to go through a tedious manual process to ensure that the data was up to date. It lacks an automated re-sync option is both baffling and frustrating. It is also fails to provide any IP address tracking capabilities. It's astonishing that such a basic feature is absent from Fresh Service's Chrome OS device discovery app offering. How can an inventory management system overlook something as crucial as IP addresses? This app need significant improvements to be a viable Chromebook inventory management solution.

This is a great app and works well, however it doesn't pull the Asset ID from Google Admin. We have the majority of our devices in Google paired up with their Asset ID. This would be nice if that field was also pulled in by this tool.
1. Head over to the Admin tab in Freshservice.
2. Under the Helpdesk Productivity tab, click on the “Apps” icon and go to “Get more Apps”.
3. When you find ChromeOS device discovery app, simply click on the icon and hit Install.
4. In the successive page, select 'Enable' to activate the application.
3. You should be redirected to the Google OAuth page. Please enter your google admin credentials.
4. Allow "View your Chrome OS devices' metadata" when prompted.
5. You will be redirected to the accounts listing page.
6. When the sync is completed, the Last sync time will be updated to the time when the discovery was completed. Sync progress or failure data would be displayed under "Last sync time".
7. To check the fetched devices, navigate to Assets -> Inventory. Choose the filter Hardware -> Created By -> Chrome Connector
Not an Admin? Share this app with your admin to install it for you.
