We are pleased to announce the release of Version 4.0 of the GDPR Compliance App for Freshdesk. This version introduces several significant enhancements designed to offer greater flexibility, improved rule precision, and broader compliance coverage—including retroactive processing of historical data.
New Features in v4.0
1. “Apply to Single Ticket” Option
Users can now choose whether deletion rules should apply based on a single ticket match or apply to all tickets associated with a contact meet the defined criteria. This new toggle lets you apply deletion rules based on a single ticket match instead of requiring all tickets under a contact to meet the condition. This allows more targeted and efficient automation of data deletion workflows.
2. Tag-Based Ticket Rule Conditions
Ticket rules now support tag-based filtering, enabling users to create deletion conditions that rely on the presence of specific tags in tickets. This offers finer control and improves rule accuracy for teams with complex ticket categorization.
3. “Delete Contact After X Duration” Setting
Administrators can now configure a time delay between the deletion of all associated tickets and the deletion of the contact. Available options include: Immediate, 30, 60, and 90 days. This feature provides a grace period to retain contact data temporarily after ticket removal, improving auditability and operational flexibility.
4. Support for Historical Ticket Deletion
In previous versions, the app only considered tickets created after the GDPR app installation. With v4.0, the app now automatically processes all historical tickets from the Freshdesk account's creation date. It evaluates each rule’s conditions across the full ticket history and performs deletions accordingly, ensuring that GDPR compliance is applied retroactively and not limited to newly generated tickets.
Installation & Upgrade
Version 4.0 is available as an automatic update. After installation or upgrade, we recommend that administrators review existing rules and make any necessary adjustments to benefit from the new features.
