UrbanPiper, the tech-based startup which raised a $7.5M in series A led by Tiger Global and Sequoia India, enables restaurants to automate their online businesses. It helps restaurants that work with multiple food aggregators like Swiggy, Zomato or UberEats, put out a real-time menu and efficiently manage all incoming orders without juggling between multiple applications.
Having a lean team, this was a real challenge. Their recruiters had to log in and out of multiple platforms to post jobs, edit them or even check for who has applied to them.
Candidates applied through various platforms. It was becoming increasingly impossible for them to manage all the incoming applications. All applications were routed to a single email ID and there was hardly any process in place to handle them.
The team was finding it difficult to see when hiring managers or panel members were available for interviews. Even after they had that information, it was a whole other thing to schedule interviews, keep them informed and follow up with reminders. It didn’t stop there, they then had to gather feedback from the interviews and get the team in the same room to discuss candidates and finalize decisions.
Efforts and efficiency were leaking through the cracks.

The job board integrations in Freshteam made it possible for the sourcing team at UrbanPiper to rapidly increase the visibility of their jobs and reduced the effort involved by manyfold.
They didn’t have to manually do any publishing. A simple one push toggle published their jobs to multiple job boards. Making edits to a job became easy because Freshteam ensured that the information about jobs is kept in sync across all job boards. This means when they edit a job on Freshteam, it now automatically reflects on all job boards.
Freshteam integrates with major free job boards like Glassdoor, Indeed, Ziprecruiter, LinkedIn and Adzuna.

Through the Google calendar sync in Freshteam, recruiters could see who’s available and when for the interviews. Every time an interview was scheduled, Freshteam automatically notified the interviewers or panel members and also sent out a communication to the candidate.
The hiring workflows and scorecards added more clarity to the interview process. They were able to define an exclusive hiring workflow for each job role on the system. The scorecards helped their interviewers to stay objective and rate candidates on the skills required for the roles.
Vijay says, ”The recent updates in the mobile app have turned into one of my favorites. The notifications especially, when a candidate is selected or rejected allow me to communicate to the candidate as soon as I can. At UrbanPiper we take our candidate experience very seriously. A part of it is giving thorough and constructive feedback after interviews especially when they have not been selected. The mobile app gives me updates as and when the team acts on things, now I am able to promptly get back to my candidates.”
The App has come in handy for the whole team. Whether it’s quickly checking a candidate’s profile before an interview, or submitting feedback before it fades from the memory, getting updates on important actions from the team, Freshteam has helped the HR team grow tighter and faster.
