Before discussing how we are changing the app development using Gen AI, we wanted to take the attendees through what it means to build for Freshworks. Our VP of Engineering, Rajeev Purohit, kicked off the summit with an introduction to Freshworks and the opportunity developers have to build for our 65k+ global customers. He talked about how the Neo platform powers all the Freshworks products and lets external developers build applications for our customers with the support of an open ecosystem model. Changing the way you code with Freddy Copilot for Developers

After a brief on the Freshworks ecosystem and the opportunities for the developer community, it was time for the most anticipated announcement for the day, a breakthrough in how you develop apps with Freshworks. Our VP and BU head of Neo Platform, Tejas Bhandarkar, set the context with the day’s keynote session highlighting why Gen AI is essential in supporting the current generation of developers who have emerged as crucial business growth drivers. He painted a picture of a development experience with and without Gen AI and how it can remove multiple mundane and repetitive coding tasks that are tedious and time-consuming. Take a look at this blog, where he highlights the capability in detail. With AI all set to change the development landscape, Freshworks allows you to leverage the next big thing in app development with Freddy Copilot for Developers.

Freddy Copilot for Developers – An Intro by G

After a brief walkthrough of how Gen AI will change the developer experience, it was time for the most exciting part of the day. Girish Mathrubootham, or G (as we lovingly call him), the founder and CEO of Freshworks, launched Freddy Copilot for Developers, our Gen AI experience on top of the Freshworks Developer platform. In his message, he highlighted how Freddy Copilot for developers, is bringing the app development time on Freshworks from weeks to a few days.

Here are some key capabilities we covered:

  • Learn faster with Chat-based tutorials – This allows developers to learn how to get started quickly. They can easily access sample apps and best practices with simple conversational prompts.
  • RapidCode Generation – Developers can now generate code snippets rapidly with our powerful conversational interface. This means you can transform your ideas from use cases to code deployments in minutes and say goodbye to repetitive and mundane coding tasks.
  • 1-click actions – Freddy Copilot for Developers lets you review, debug, and run security scans with just a single click. You can also generate documentation and comments for your code and publish the app faster, saving you weeks of development time.

Getting hands-on with Freddy Copilot for Developers and the Freshworks developer ecosystem

After an exciting and detailed introduction to our Gen AI capability, it was time for developers to finally see Freddy Copilot for Developers in action. Our Principal Engineer for the Neo Platform, Karthikeyan Ramasamy, took the stage and gave the participants the first deep-dive into how this changes the way you build apps for Freshworks. Before going deep into the Gen AI tool and doing a demo for the participants, Karthikeyan showcased the possibilities of apps one can build on the Freshworks Marketplace and the diverse set of use cases developers can choose to build an app on.

The deep dive sessions continued as developers were further introduced to the Freshworks ecosystem. It included learning more about the Freshworks development environment, ways to get started, available tutorials/documentation, and, most importantly, getting hands-on experience working with Freddy Copilot for Developers.

Not only that, but we also covered ways developers like you can start generating recurring revenue from the Freshworks Marketplace using our Paid Apps Program and get an opportunity to earn up to 100% revenue by building apps that solve specific and critical use cases for our 65k+ customers globally.

The participants also had the chance to interact with our SMEs at the various booths at the venue. They got more clarity on our Gen AI capabilities and Paid Apps program at the booths. They also learned more about our Developer certifications and got a chance to interact with our product design team.

Serverless Trends 2023 – An insightful session from an industry expert.

If you have worked on the Freshworks Developer platform before or have built apps on the marketplace, you would know the power and ease of serverless. Raghavendra Prakash, Senior Solutions Architect at AWS, an industry expert on Serverless, closed off the sessions with a walkthrough on the future of serverless, the role it plays for a tech-enabled future, and how AWS is at the forefront of this evolution. He built an impactful context for the participants when he highlighted how India took almost 63 years to become a $1 trillion economy, 7 years to reach $2 trillion, and a mere 3 years to reach a $7 trillion economy. He also mentioned the importance of Industry 4.0 and how serverless is the key to accelerating growth in India and the global economy.

A Developer panel discussion on Gen AI

When we talk about Generative AI and the revolution it has brought about, one thought which resonates with everyone is risk vs opportunity. This was the topic of discussion for our Developer panel led by our VP of Engineering, Rajeev Purohit. The panel answered relevant questions on how Gen AI will shape the developer ecosystem worldwide and presented their view on risk vs opportunity. One key point resonating with all the panelists was how Gen AI would automate mundane and repetitive tasks and let developers focus more on problems they are trying to solve. The opportunity is huge for the developer community to move towards more specialized work with Gen AI.

We also had some fun!

While our customers, developers, and partners learned more about the Freshworks ecosystem, they also indulged in a fun DrumJam session. It was an engaging activity that got the whole crowd active and energized.
